Caffeinated Doughnuts

Come on! Do we really need this? With childhood obesity through the roof, and an epidemic of heart disease and worries about diabetes, do we really need another reason to eat doughnuts?

Read these articles from the Washington Post, they fall in either of two categories “Why didn’t I think of this?”, or “Okay, now, why?”:

Scientist Develops Caffeinated Doughnuts
Scientist Develops Caffeinated Baked Goods

Let’s face it. We live in a country of caffeine junkies. Coffee, chocolate, Coca-cola, Pepsi. Whatever. We all sip, guzzle, and gulp gallons of caffeine. Do we really need a way to add caffeine to anything edible? Because this is what this is. A nice white, tasteless, powder, loaded with caffeine that we can add to anything. Like sugar.

What does it say about our society that someone would invent this, and think to add it to a doughnut instead of a bran muffin?
