Dragon Harperis a good story, the characters are great, but it lacks a certain intensity, or magnetism might be a better word. While I enjoyed this latest trip to Pern, it didn’t have the power to truly draw me in, to emotionally involve me in the story the way Ms. McCaffrey is so good at doing.
Pern is pretty much my favorite place to get lost for hours on end. The problem with Dragon Harper is that I couldn’t get lost. Not completely. Hopefully, Dragonheart, the next Dragonrider novel, will be better in this regard.
All in all, Dragon Harper is a check-out-at-the-library kind of read.
