A Circle of Wives by Alice LaPlante

On a gorgeous evening in Palo Alto, California, Detective Samantha Adams is called to the Westin hotel when a guest is found dead in his room.  Dr. John Taylor, a prominent plastic surgeon specializing in pediatric reconstructive surgery, has died of an apparent heart attack, but the presence of bruises and an inexplicable puncture wound in the back of his neck hint at something else.

At his funeral, we meet his wife of thirty-five years, Deborah…

and his wife, MJ, of six years…

and, Helen, his wife of six months….

Dr. John was, apparently, a very busy boy.  And, it turns out, that ain’t the half of it.

Finding out your husband isn’t just your husband, would certainly be an adequate motive for murder, but which one of them, if any, did the deed?

I got the whodunit right, but not the whodunit. That doesn’t make any sense, I know, unless, of course, you’ve read the book. If you haven’t, you need to. It’s an awesome read.
